Apple Crisp

I love cooking & baking for others, and lately Ben's babysitter has been the recipient of many goodies! This week I made an Apple Crisp for her & her husband to enjoy. It's so simple & can be made in advance!

Apple Crisp
5 cups Apples; Peeled, cored, & sliced
*(Mounded high in pan – apples will bake down a lot)*
¼ cup Orange Juice
1 cup Sugar
¾ cup Flour
1 stick Butter
¼ tsp. Nutmeg
½ tsp. Cinnamon
Dash of Salt

-Combine butter, sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, & salt in a bowl (Blend w/ a pastry blender or large fork)
-Use butter wrapper to grease pie tin
-Put apple slices in pie tin
-Pour orange juice over apples
-Top with dry mixture
-Bake @ 375 for 45 minutes or until nicely browned

*Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream :)

*Recipe courtesy of Anita Hart... who was so thoughtful in surprising me with an "Apple Crisp Kit" at work this past Monday: apples she picked at the orchard, along with a Ziploc bag containing all of the dry ingredients already measured out! So I just had to make an Apple Crisp for Chris & I tonight! So yes, I made 2 apple crisps in one week... told ya they are so simple to make! :) Thanks Anita! What a great gift idea, too!
