My friend Jaime made these cookies for our Playdate a few weeks ago, & I loved the "cake-like" taste of them! They have an unusal ingredient for a chocolate chip cookie recipe... sour cream! Doesn't sour cream seem to make everything better? :)
I decided to make a double batch last night so I could bring some to my parents' house (for babysitting Ben!) & to my Grandma Lou for her 85th birthday today!
"Jaime's Cookies" aka Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp coarse salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
7 tbsp unsalted butter-room temperature
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1 egg (room temperature)
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp sour cream
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In one bowl, whisk the flour, salt, & baking soda. Set aside. In a second, larger bowl, cream butter & both sugars using a mixer. Mix in egg & vanilla. Reduce speed to low. Then add flour mixture in 3 batches alternating with sour cream & beat until just combined. Stir in the semi-sweet & milk chocolate chips by hand. Cover dough & put in freezer for 10 minutes. Then place tbsp sized portions on an ungreased cookie sheet (I like to line my cookie sheets with parchment paper). Bake 12-14 minutes until centers set & cookies are pale golden brown.
(After removing from the oven, I let the cookies cool for 5 minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring to a cooling rack)
